This qualification is often known as the CAVA or TAQA qualification and is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the workplace and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in a workshop, classroom or other training environment.
You will learn the theory and requirements for the practical assessments online, through our Moodle based virtual learning environment, which will take you through each module, with online tutor support and guidance.
You will need 2 learners who you can assess for the workplace competency within your organisation, the requirements can be discussed with your tutor to make sure that the qualification you are assessing is suitable and will enable you to meet all of the learning outcomes.
For the vocational assessment you will need 2 learners who are completing a vocational qualification, some examples would be, first aid, health and safety

Assessment of 2 learners for competency in the work environment (for example customer service)
Assessment must be based on subjects that have clearly defined and documented learning outcomes and for the workplace competency (unit 2) you will need an assessor to sign a witness statement.
The theory for the CAVA qualification is delivered online and can be accessed via any computer/laptop or mobile device. You will need to be able to download word templates, to use for your assignments, when completed you upload them to the virtual learning environment to be marked.
You will have access to the training with our online virtual learning environment for 12 months, the course is set out in an easy to follow format and this is plenty of time to complete your assignments. You will be provided with the assessment templates to use to prepare your assessments and forms to complete as evidence.
What IT Skills do I need to complete the training online?
For the workplace competency you are required to provide a Professional Statement and Witness Testimony.
The Professional Statement must be from a workplace assessor who will write to confirm that you carried out the assessing in the workplace in accordance with the Qualification Specifications. This can be a signed statement on headed paper or similar official document.
The Witness Testimony should be completed by a manager, workplace qualified assessor or competent person, to detail what assessments you have done and confirm that it was all you own work, completed in accordance with workplace and qualification rules.
