This IQA qualification will provide you with the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and understanding to enable you to perform the role of internal quality assurer in an educational institute.

You will gain the knowledge through our Moodle Virtual Learning Environment, when you are ready, you can complete the practical modules, either at your place of work subject to suitable expert witnesses (Experienced and qualified IQA) being available or we will arrange for you to attend at our training centre and complete the practical IQA with us. Prerequisites

  • Level 2 in literacy, numeracy or equivalent.
  • Delegates must be aged 18+.
  • Completion of our online initial assessment form.
  • Access to the Internet.
  • Laptop / Computer.
  • Word 97 or newer.
  • To be familiar with uploading and downloading files.
  • If you plan to complete the course as a distance course, you will need to have access to courses being delivered and assessed for you to complete your internal quality assurance of the assessment decisions.
  • You will also need to have an expert witness who is a fully qualified and experienced IQA if you want to complete this as a distance course.
  • If you don't have access to suitable courses or if you do not have an IQA available to act as your expert witness you would need to complete the practical module with us at our training centre in Colchester, Essex. There is no additional charge and this is our recommended option.

It is recommended (but not required) that learners hold one of the following qualifications prior to enrolling

  • Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement 
  • A1 Assess candidate performance using a range of methods

More information about the IQA Course

You will have access to the training with our online virtual learning environment for 12 months, the course is set out in an easy to follow format and 12 months is plenty of time to complete your assignments.

The online training provides you with videos, lessons and many useful handouts to help you to complete the theoretical side of this course, your tutor will provide guidance and feedback, your assignments will be marked within 48 hours of submission, however this is often sooner.

If you submit an assignment that doesn't meet all of the learning outcomes, don't worry. Your tutor will point you in the right direction and you can re-submit an assignment as many times as necessary.

When your theory assignments have been completed, you will need to observe assessments. This can be one assessment at your place of work and one at our training centre. To meet the learning outcomes for this qualification you must be internally quality assuring a qualification with clear documented learning outcomes and a minimum of 2 modules.

This should include observation of assessment, learner interviews, desktop review of assessment decisions on learners work, assessment decisions on guided discussions etc, across a range of units.

What IT Skills do I need to complete the training online?

Using the VLE does require basic IT Skills, you will need to be familiar with uploading and downloading files, the course lessons can be accessed through any mobile device.

Who is this for?

This qualification is for those wishing to undertake the role of Internal Quality Assurer within an educational institute.

What can I expect if I do the practical elements with ITG?

  • You will quality assure using a number of different methods.
  • You will observe teaching
  • You will observe delegates delivery of micro-teach presenations
  • You will observe the micro-teach assessment and debrief discussions
  • You will conduct learner interviews
  • You will internal quality assure teaching materials
  • You will conduct a desk-based IQA on another qualification

You will need to start at 8:30 to be introduced to the trainer before the course starts, you will watch the first session and observe 2 or 3 microteach presentations and debriefing, then you will write up your report. You will debrief the trainer and provide feedback before starting your desk based review of different courses. This will be followed by a debrief with our IQA to compare and check standarisation of your report. When completed our IQA will sign off your practical module.

You are welcome to use our facilities to complete your reflection logs which would then be checked and signed off by our IQA.
