First Aid Trainer Course including the AET Qualification
This first aid trainer course is designed for individuals who already have a very thorough knowledge of all aspects relating to first aid at work and hold a valid accepted three day first aid at work certificate or exemption. The ITG First Aid Instructor qualification is endorsed by Training Qualifications UK and Awarding Organisation regulated by Ofqual.
This course includes the Level 3 Award in Education and Training which is the minimum requirement for trainers wishing to teach first aid subjects. The main focus of the course is teaching techniques, planning and delivering training. Enhanced CPR Skills including Bag Valve Masks and Oxygen will also be covered during the training.
Delegates attending this course will be provided with an online first aid course, which will cover Paediatric first aid and automated external defibrillator training, full knowledge of the first aid skills and theory of first aid at work will be assumed if you select this course.
We can deliver Paediatric First Aid Instructor as a stand-alone qualification, for groups of 6-12 persons. This can be incorporated with our Award in Education and Training, for any delegates who do not hold a formal teaching or training qualification. When you arrive at the classroom you will be provided with a workbook which you will complete as part of your AET course. The tutor will also demonstrate some of the skills that you will be teaching your students. Towards the end of the training, you will prepare a session plan and deliver a presentation based on a first aid subject and partake in other assessing and teaching sessions.
To ensure that you can deliver a range of courses, you will also gain Paediatric First Aid Instructor and AED Instructor, AED use is now part of the Emergency First Aid at Work and First Aid at Work curriculum and is now becoming more popular as a stand-alone course due to the higher number of AEDs that are now used in a number of businesses. The Paediatric and AED modules are covered in your online training and will also be part of your classroom training.

What do I need to do to keep my trainer and first aid qualifications up to date, so that I can continue to teach?
To stay within the regulations, you will need to make sure that you always hold a current, valid first aid at work certificate unless you have an exemption, if you are a UK registered Nurse, Paramedic or Doctor you can only continue to teach while you have a current registration. If you retire or no longer keep up your registration, you will need to hold a current, valid first aid at work certificate.
