Accepted First Aid Qualifications and Exemptions

All trainers need to hold a current 3 Day First Aid at Work Certificate if they do not hold an exemption:-Any Regulated First Aid at Work Qualification, these qualifications will have the Ofqual Logo and the name of the Awarding Organisation.

First Aid at Work Qualifications.

  • Any Regulated full First Aid at Work Qualification. *****
  • First aid at Work Qualifications from St Johns Ambulance, St Andrews or the other voluntary organisation
  • ProTrainings First Aid at Work Certificates are accepted by TQUK as a First Aid at Work Qualification.

**** These will include the Ofqual logo and be from an Awarding Organisation such as TQUK, Qualsafe, Pearson Edexcel or other Awarding Organisation.

If you hold a First Aid at Work qualification and are unsure about whether it is acceptable for a first aid trainer, please call us. Certificates will only be accepted if the organisation providing the qualification can prove IQA and evidence mapping of the qualification to make sure it meets all learning outcomes.

Exemptions.

  • Paramedic with Current Pin
  • Doctor with current GMC registration
  • Nurses with current NMC registration
  • Individuals with a current First Person on Scene Intermediate qualification
  • BTEC Level 4 Certificate for First Person on Scene
  • FREC Level 3 and above
  • FROS Level 3
  • Some EMT qualifications are excepted, please check with us before booking

Where is this course available?

We hold an open course at our training centre in Colchester, Essex, every month and also provide on-site training for groups of 6-12 people. What do I need to do to keep my trainer and first aid qualifications up to date, so that I can continue to teach?

To stay within the regulations, you will need to make sure that you always hold a current, valid first aid at work certificate unless you have an exemption, if you are a UK registered Nurse, Paramedic or Doctor you can only continue to teach while you have a current registration.
