This IQA qualification will provide you with the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and understanding to enable you to perform the role of internal quality assurer in an educational institute.

You will gain the knowledge through our Moodle Virtual Learning Environment, when you are ready, you can complete the practical modules, either at your place of work (subject to suitable expert witnesses being available) or we will arrange for you to attend at our training centre and complete the practical IQA with us. Prerequisites

  • Level 2 in literacy, numeracy or equivalent.
  • Delegates must be aged 18+.
  • Completion of our online initial assessment form.
  • Access to the Internet.
  • Laptop / Computer.
  • Word 97 or newer.
  • To be familiar with uploading and downloading files.
  • If you plan to complete the course as a distance course, you will need to have access to two assessors delivering two qualifications and have an expert witness.

Recommended

It is recommended (but not required) that learners hold one of the following qualifications prior to enrolling 

  • Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment 
  • Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement 
  • A1 Assess candidate performance using a range of methods 
  • D32/D33 assess candidates performance/assess candidates using a different range of methods

You will be able to:

  • Explain the functions of internal quality assurance in learning and development
  • Explain the key concepts and principles of the internal quality assurance of assessment
  • Explain the roles of practitioners involved in the internal and external quality assurance process
  • Explain the regulations and requirements for internal quality assurance in own area of practice
  • Evaluate the importance of planning and preparing internal quality assurance activities
  • Explain what an internal quality assurance plan should contain
  • Summarise the preparations that need to be made for internal quality assurance, including : information collection, communications, administrative arrangements and resources.
  • Evaluate different techniques for sampling evidence of assessment, including using technology
  • Explain the appropriate criteria to use for judging the quality of the assessment process
  • Summarise the types of feedback, support and advice that Assessors may need to maintain and improve the quality of assessment
  • Explain standardisation requirements in relation to assessment
  • Explain relevant procedures regarding disputes about the quality of assessment
  • Evaluate requirements for information management, data protection and confidentiality in relation to the internal quality assurance of assessment
  • Apply requirements for equality and diversity and, where appropriate, bilingualism, in relation to internal quality assurance

More information about the IQA Course

You will have access to the training with our online virtual learning environment for 12 months, the course is set out in an easy to follow format and 12 months is plenty of time to complete your assignments.

The online training provides you with videos, lessons and many useful handouts to help you to complete the theoretical side of this course, your tutor will provide guidance and feedback, your assignments will be marked within 48 hours of submission, however this is often sooner.

If you submit an assignment that doesn't meet all of the learning outcomes, don't worry. Your tutor will point you in the right direction and you can re-submit an assignment as many times as necessary.

When your theory assignments have been completed, you will need to observe assessments. This can be one assessment at your place of work and one at our training centre. To meet the learning outcomes for this qualification you must be internally quality assuring a qualification with clear documented learning outcomes and a minimum of 2 modules.

This should include observation of assessment, learner interviews, desktop review of assessment decisions on learners work, assessment decisions on guided discussions etc, across a range of units.

What IT Skills do I need to complete the training online?

Using the VLE does require basic IT Skills, you will need to be familiar with uploading and downloading files, the course lessons can be accessed through any mobile device.
